Think of this page as "optional." When we do activities in class, students often ask me for copies. Therefore, I will post any files I have electronically for you here. Feel free to download and use any of these in your own teaching (But never turn them in for a grade for a college course!).

Here is a really great "Science Teacher" Article titled, "Encouraging Creativity in the Science lab: A series of activities designed to help students think outside the box." The article is about how to encourage inquiry thinking via creativity in labs. It is an amazing article...a must read!

http://laboutloud.com/ This is a great website for you to add to your list of things to do! You can subscribe to the blog and PODCAST. The authors are 2 science teachers who interview scientists and talk about bringing great science into the classroom. I've subscribed to the podcast so it automatically goes to my phone!

This is a pdf of a Science Teacher article that was published Nov. 2010. It has a wonderful template for how to teach open inquiry (students generate questions, procedures, carry out experiments, and then communicate results). They give an earth science example that would take 2-3 class periods. Much of the same methods that I am modeling for your experiments are discussed.
